Author’s Submission Guidelines

Authors: Please note that Spectacle Publishing Media Group will not accept hard copies of submissions. Please do not submit .pdf files. SPMG will not acknowledge any such submissions. SPMG assumes all digital and print submissions to be under copyright by the original author. SPMG is responsible only for the legal integrity of its website and published products.

Please query before submitting poetry. It will not always fit our needs.

Submission Guidelines for Short Work:

Fiction:

1. All genres accepted, but please read the web page to see what our current needs are. Some items will be accepted for limited run on the web site; occasionally we will solicit short fiction for anthologies.
2. All submissions should be 2500-5000 words in length.
3. Payment is made in contributor’s copies for anthologized work, as these are generally contests with a monetary award.
4. Spectacle Publishing Media Group buys First Rights for previously unpublished printed or digital work and One-Time Rights for previously published printed or digital material. Additional uses negotiable.
5. Previously published work is acceptable. No simultaneous submissions or publications, please.
6. Attach work to an email as an RTF or Word Doc.
7. In the Subjectline of your email list the genre and title you are submitting:
   “Submission: Dangerous Romance / TITLE”

Submission Guidelines for Books:

1. Include a cover letter. Please provide a brief biography. Your biography should focus on information that is pertinent to the work you are submitting. If your book is nonfiction, how did you come to write it? Include any professional or personal qualifications or titles that speak to your expertise. For nonfiction, tell us what niche your work will fill for readers. Summarize your work in a few paragraphs. Finally, why did you choose Spectacle Publishing Media Group as a potential publisher for your work?
2. Include an outline. For fiction, this should follow the progression of the story. For nonfiction, a chapter-by-chapter breakdown is sufficient.
3. Include three chapters of your work. For fiction, send the first three. For non-fiction that doesn’t depend upon a certain sequence of events, send the three strongest chapters. We will need at least 5000 words total to fairly assess your work.
4. Payment will vary according to sales.
5. Spectacle Publishing Media Group buys First Rights for previously unpublished printed or digital work and Second Rights for previously published printed or digital material. Additional uses negotiable.
6. Previously published work is acceptable. No simultaneous submissions, please.

Nonfiction:

1. Please read our web page to see what our current needs are. Some items will be accepted for limited run on the web page; occasionally we will solicit short themed items for anthologies.
2. Nonfiction should be topical and timely. When in doubt, check the web site or query.
3. Nonfiction articles will vary in length according to style (blogs vs. articles, etc.) and our needs.
4. Payment is made in contributor’s copies
5. Spectacle Publishing Media Group buys First Rights for previously unpublished printed or digital work and One-Time Rights for previously published printed or digital material. Additional uses negotiable.
